OBJECTIVES
Provide explanations and understanding about fatwas and Islamic law to the community;
Control the teaching and learning of the Islamic religion in accordance with enforced laws;
Provide services and guidance to Muslims in the implementation of worship;
Revive the culture of knowledge and understanding of Islam and spread it through print and electronic media; and
Convey a clear understanding regarding the creed of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah and restore understanding that deviates from it.
FUNCTIONS
Assist and advise His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and the Federal Government in relation to Islamic law;
Reviewing and issuing fatwas on issues that require clarification of Islamic law;
Issuing a certificate to teach Islam in the Federal Territories;
Provide advice and services in matters related to faith, sharia and morals;
Conducting research in the compilation of fatwas;
Providing guidance and services in matters of astronomy including determining the direction of Qibla, calendar, prayer times and observations; and
Develop, manage and advance the system of delivering information related to Islamic law effectively to the community.
